Dreams are the touchstones of our character.
Henry David Thoreau

For many years now we have dreamed of building a log cabin to use as a retreat. Not a modern, state-of-the-art “kit” cabin, but the real thing. We wanted a log cabin like the ones our ancestors had built.

It would need to be simple, but sturdy; perfect in its symmetry and at home in its natural surroundings; hand hewn with loving care; and furnished with our little collection of cherished primitive antiques. We wanted it equipped with necessary conveniences, but all trace of the modern world hidden from our view wherever possible.

Over the years the dream for our retreat took shape as we found inspiration in many places.
